Listen: Psychic Ills “I Don’t Mind (feat. Hope Sandoval)”

905

Psychic Ills sure have traveled far and wide since their earliest Din daze back in 2005! On June 3rd the band will release their 5th LP Inner Journey Out (Sacred Bones), and it will be their first since 2013. In the interim, singer/guitarist Tres Warren and bassist Elizabeth Hart have assembled quite a group of musicians to help flesh out the album’s fourteen tracks. Increasingly influenced by an almost 70’s brand of psych fried rock, the upcoming record finds Warren and Hart joined by touring keyboardist Brent Cordero, whose Farfisa and Wurlitzer can be heard throughout. Inner Journey Out also finds the Ills playing with a host of drummers like Chris Millstein, Harry Druzd of Endless Boogie, Derek James of The Entrance Band, as well as Charles Burst–one of the record’s engineers. And, in case that’s not enough, Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval joins Warren on the album’s first single “I Don’t Mind“, a no-regrets remembrance of love lost.
