Pop. 1280‘s Paradise LP is out now on Sacred Bones, and today we watch the band’s new video for “Phantom Freighter.” Directed by Dave Ebel, this track’s toxic brand of industrial gets just the kind of Videodrome treatment it needs. A glitchy VHS vibe prevails as a seedy video crew trolls around a sludgy river with a strange TV host and singer Chris Bug in tow.
What exactly they’re doing down there on those brackish shores is anyone’s guess, but it looks quite nefarious. In fact, if you’re cuddled up with your honey on some late night and you see this “show” being transmitted from some mysterious cable access station in Pittsburgh, you better hope your honey’s not Debbie Harry. Unless snuff films and cigarette burns are your thing. No judgements here.
