Listen: Ithi “Visions”

570

I had things to do today until I ran into the face melting psych of Ithi‘s killer new cut “Visions“. The project’s upcoming limited edition cassette release Chapel Perilous, due out May 13th via Milwaukee’s Utech Records, marks a return to the brilliantly curated label. Ithi released their debut, The Persistence Of Meaning, on Utech back in 2011, but, except for Within out on Land of Decay in 2012, not much seems to have been heard from the project since. “Visions” is the lead single from Chapel Perilous, and it’s gritty industrial rhythm and psych-laced guitar hook, fed thru a thick layer of grunge, brings to mind Buzz Records‘ bands like HSY, Odonis Odonis, and Mexican Slang–all groups adept at infectiously noisy and dark pop. Laced with ear warping sonics and muscular drumming, “Visions” rides some serious updraft as it smolders around Luke Krnkr‘s riveting vocal track…Looks like I won’t be getting much done today!
