Gods of Speed have a very cool new video for their track “Treble & Rhythm“, directed by Patricio Hinojosa. The electronic duo of Alejandro Elizondo and Memo Guerra follow up their self-titled debut with Gods of Speed II (Abstrakt Muzak)– not a sequel per se, but conceived as “a reply of sorts” to the seven tracks on their first LP. For the new effort, the pair has added “percussion, electric bass, electric piano and guitars” to their modular synth set-up. In talking about the upcoming record, Guerra offers:

“Unlike the previous album, we wrote this together in collaboration from the beginning, taking turns playing the role of musician and recording engineer, and throwing ideas around at the same time.”

“Treble & Rhythm” is the album’s first single, and video director Patricio Hinojosa perfectly captures it’s tightly coiled and frenetic energy with glitchy, hand-held footage that often concentrates on the musician’s shadowed images as they play the track live. Reflected in stark contrast against a blank wall, Elizondo and Guerra seem to twitch and throb to the music’s nervous energy, and the focus on the player’s “after” image adds an impressively haunting effect.
