Watch: Krankland “In the Realms of the Unreal”

Belgian guitarist/vocalist Thomas Werbrouck has a new project called Krankland, and today we watch the video for their track “In the Realms of the Unreal“. Thomas came to our attention playing with Eline Adam in the punk-leaning noise-pop band Little Trouble Kids, and the duo’s excellent stop-motion video for “Medals & Scars”–all hand drawn by Adam–was one of our favorites of 2014. Krankland finds Werbrouck joined by Christophe Claeys on drums, Thomas Mortier on bass, Janko Beckers on guitar, and the group’s upcoming single was recorded by Pascal Deweze at Studio Jezus. “In the Realms of the Unreal”, a song title possibly inspired by the amazingly strange outsider artist Henry Darger, is a heady and seductive brew that features the kind of psych-laced guitar line we just can’t get enough of, as well as Werbrouck’s exhilaratingly zoned vocal delivery. I find I keep turning up the volume on this track hoping to mainline a stronger dose of the stuff! Awesome video for the cut too, and it features repurposed vintage footage taken from some psychedelically styled commercials–in particular, a really cool animated sequence featuring some kind of “magic man” capable of bestowing “fashion” on a flock of his wanna-be followers!
Krankland will release “In the Realms of the Unreal” as a limited edition 7″ later this month on Record Store Day (4/16/2016), and the single will feature three-layered handmade artwork from Eline Adam, which you can check out below…
