Get out and support local Seattle punks Deer Venom this Thursday night at The Highline! Guitarist Mario Barbetta returns to the scene with a brand new band and this will be their first live show. Mario is a Live Eye Tv alumni, and some might remember the days he kicked around town with his kick-ass group, The Young Mothers of the Sierra Madre. While that outfit was instrumental–trading in a lethal brand of asymmetrical punk–Deer Venom is a hard-rocking trio that includes drummer Radford Mason, and bassist/vocalist Brian Salvage.
Their demo track “Snowblind” reveals the new group will be a more vocally driven affair, and on it Barbetta and Salvage trade lead on verses and choruses to anthemic results. Though still just a demo, the track’s driving low end and fuzzed-out guitar hooks show plenty of promise, and it’s the kind of cut that is sure to pack a punch live. Also on the bill this Thursday night, more loud and sweaty punk from ex Licks, Variations, and the night’s headliners, Porn Bloopers. See you there, punks!
