Ben Lukas Boysen “Nocturne 4”

Berlin-based composer/producer/sound artist Ben Lukas Boysen is readying his Spells LP for release on June 10th via Erased Tapes. This past April we listened to the intriguingly evocative ambience of “Golden Times 1,”, and today we preview the musician’s next offering, “Nocturne 4“.

Combining programmed piano and classic choral arrangements with live instrumentation from cellist Anton Peisakhov, harpist Lara Somogyi, and drummer Achim Ferber, Boysen builds “Nocturne 4” from its initially minimal origins into a fully articulated composition that soars with expectancy and optimism. While the composer’s use of live and programmed instrumentation is often meant to confound listeners–prodding them to inquire as to what and how they hear–his music still registers in very human ways offering a wide range of moods from the contemplative to the exalted!
