SF punks Male Gaze return on June 17th with a new LP entitled King Leer due out via Castle Face Records. Featuring “ex” members of Bay-area bands like Blasted Canyons, Mayyors, The Mall, and Tiaras, Male Gaze is comprised of singer/guitarist Matt Jones, bassist Mark Kaiser, drummer Adam Cimino, as well as guitarist Adam Finken.
“Bad Omens” is the second single off the upcoming record and it matches muscular bass and drum rhythms with heady, interlocking guitar melodies–all set at a frenetic pace that threatens to fly off the rails at any moment. Vocalist Matt Jones guides the proceedings in a yearning tenor, singing: “Look at the mess we’ve made/Feel the ruins between us”, and his introspective tact makes this as much a lament for love lost, as a thrilling cut of guitar-driven rock.
