Japanese trio Boris has announced the release of a 10th-Anniversary deluxe reissue of their landmark LP Pink, due out July 8th via Sargent House. The set will also include Pink Sessions “Forbidden Songs”, 9 tracks of previously unreleased material recorded during the album’s making back in 2005-06–with additional editing and arrangements added in 2015. Look for Deluxe Edition‘s of the vinyl reissue to include, like the original US vinyl, three longer edits of the tracks “Farewell“, “Pseudo-Bread” and “My Machine“. In addition, the band the has reported they will tour North America beginning in July, playing Pink in its entirety.
Today we take a listen to “Are You Ready“, one of the previously unreleased tracks that can be found on “Forbidden Songs”. If you’re familiar with Pink you know it is a ferocious beast full of noise and beauty. Bombastic punk energy meets heady strains of metal and psych throughout the album’s eleven tracks, and it’s a titanic effort that amazes at every turn. Capable of stylistic shifts that effortlessly meld between genres, “Are You Ready” reflects the group’s wild and thrashier side. Riding a rambunctious, bass-driven riff straight for the cliff’s edge, Boris celebrate abandon in this sonic game of chicken! Free and raw, and with nothing left to loose, don’t think this trio won’t drive you right over the edge.
