Mass Gothic will release their Sup Goth digital EP on August 5th via Sub Pop. While this is a follow-up to the pair’s 2016 self-titled LP, the upcoming release is the first that Noel Heroux and Jessica Zambri recorded together. In talking about the EP, Heroux explains:
“I followed my previously usually-ignored instinct to allow the noise and color in my head to inform a specific, intentional sound as opposed to ‘throwing it all at the wall’ as I’ve done a thousand times before”.
For my money, though, what sounds so great about “A Run” is its embrace of chaos, coupled with a desire to take creative chances. To these ears that sounds something like, “throwing everything at the wall”, but that’s a good thing, cause what sticks injects current pop and indie structures with a healthy dose of noise and disorder.
