Mass Gothic‘s track “Nice Night” was a real standout on their self-titled LP out this past February on Sub Pop. Noel Heroux‘s harrowing exploration of depression and loneliness came infectiously packaged in grungy pop, and it mixed the pain and relief of pulling an old band-aid off a healing wound.
Visuals for the track are provided by Addison Post, and they feature Heroux seated in front of a white backdrop, mouthing the song’s vocals, while Jessica Zambri accompanies him on bass. Filmed in one long take, and alternating focus between the musicians, Heroux is the picture of dejection, while Zambri is a pale, gothic vision of rock femininity. Between them, these two have more than enough character and style to spare, and like rock-n-roll Bonnie and Clydes of the past, it’s difficult to take your eyes off this pair.
