Listen to Patricia’s Track “Thoughts 57”:
Sometimes you fall down the rabbit hole and there’s a real rabbit on the other end…Brooklyn-based producer Max Ravitz makes stripped down house and techno under the moniker Patricia, as well as playing in groups like Inhalants, Masks, and Black Mold–to name a few. The Chicago-born musician’s recent offering on Opal Tapes, 2015’s Bem Inventory–the follow-up to his breakthrough record, Body Issues, for the label–is an excellent collection of dubbed-out deep house and techno that has just come to our attention. Oozing that late night vibe we love so much, a visit to his Soundcloud page was in order. And, what do you know, we’re just in time to give this new cut, “Thoughts 57“, a listen! Rippling patterns of plucked keys seem to drip in modulating patterns as this track begins to coalesce across its 7-minutes. Slowly, a subterranean kick surfaces from the cave-like depths, while whispers of a house melody glint off its dark walls. Before you know it, though, an amber glow seems to illuminate the whole track, and with it come a host of hushed new details glimmering in the domed air.
