Listen to Takahiro Mukai’s Track “9031”:

Takahiro Mukai is a prolific Japanese electronic musician and composer, and over the last two years the artist has released a slew of cassettes on labels like Altered States Tapes, Auditory Field Theory, and Dionysian Tapes–to name just a few. Recently, Mukai’s 6-track release Silver Dust Bells came to our attention. Out this year on Timm Mason‘s Masters Chemical Society tape label, it’s a very intriguing collection of ambient and proto-techno electronics.

9031” is like a slice of gauzy dream as its initial stepping pattern somnolently unfolds in a shadowy lullaby. A twilight ambience accrues with it while a sugar cube of Acid slowly melts in the ears giving off twanging tones that reverberate in the half-light. “9031” definitely offers warm night trips, perfect for rolling back the moon roof on the ol’ cranium and floating open-air style. Silver Dust Bells is limited to only 60 copies, so grab one while you can. Can’t wait to dig further in and explore the Masters Chemical Society label, as well as more from Takahiro’s prolific discography!
