The Body has a new video for “The Mythic Arc” off the No One Deserves Happiness LP out now on Thrill Jockey. Chip King and Lee Buford are masters at juxtaposing extreme sonic brutality with unsettling beauty, and this track, with vocals from Chrissy Wolpert of The Assembly of Light Choir, is no exception.
Visuals are provided by Thou‘s bassist Mitch Wells, and they feature the Canadian actor Keir Gilchrist. While The Body’s music has often sounded like the soundtrack to a snuff film, and earlier video’s for tracks like “To Carry The Seeds Of Death Within Me” or “Shrouded” definitely incorporated terrifying visuals, more recent efforts have followed a different tact. Here, much like in Joe Martinez‘s video for “The Fall and the Guilt,” human relationships form the core of the focus. Or, in this case, what appears to be the ending of those relationships…
