Listen to Merso’s Track “Serial Killer”:
Seattle-based four piece Merso will release their Red World LP on October 21st via Good To Die Records and today we listen to their brooding post-rock cut, “Serial Killer“. Dropping their original band name, Leatherdaddy, and moving away from the Sabbath-indebted psych-metal of their self-released EP The Plague House, the band has really found their stride with a smoldering hybrid form that blends the sprawling, lyrical compositions of prog rock with heavy doses of blues and funk. “Serial Killer” simmers with a sun-drenched desert vibe while singer/guitarist Tristan Sennholz narrates this track’s dark tale in a smokey, high register. The effect is seductive, and ultimately nightmarish in equal measure. Backed by Taylor Carroll on drums, Evan Anderson on bass, and with additional guitar from Taylor Romoser, the band’s music flows effortlessly like a river continually switching courses while creating a deep, sonic undertow. Wade in at your own peril!
You can catch Merso at their Record Release Show on October 21st at The Black Lodge with local bands Serial Hawk and Post/Boredom.
