Recondite has a new track entitled “Capable” off his upcoming Corvus EP due out on November 11th via Ghostly International. Named after the family of birds that includes ravens and crows, Corvus marks the Berlin-based producers first return to the label since his Hinterland LP in 2013. In talking about the EP, Recondite explains: “Melancholic doesn’t necessarily mean dark. Music can be happy and moody”.

While “happy” might not quite be the right word to describe “Capable,” there’s definitely a sensual quality to the producer’s melancholy. Languorous keys set a plaintive mood to begin, with Recondite expertly balancing melody and negative space to create this track’s spell-binding atmosphere. Eventually though, an elastic kick gives “Capable” its subtle driving force, before cloudy claps and a revolving snare pattern fill out this cut’s infectious rhythm. The result is a track that is nimble and syncopated, held together by the animating force of a kick drum beating with the throb of desire.
