Listen to Shop Talk’s Track “Knock on a Door”:
If you go knockin’ on doors, you better be ready for what’s on the other side. Shop Talk is a gnarly, punk trio out of Brooklyn led by singer/guitarist Jon Garcia (Queening, Worms In Dirt), with Alexander Perrelli of Pygmy Shrews on drums, and Liturgy guitarist Bernard Gann on bass. The band will release their self-titled LP on November 11th via the group’s label, Brainbox Records, and the upcoming effort was recorded by Eaters member Jonathan Schenke–a prolific producer and engineer who has worked on albums by Parquet Courts, Dan Friel, Fergus & Geronimo, and Liturgy to name a few. “Knock on a Door” finds the trio locked in a spastic and wiry groove with Garcia’s guitar interweaving the rhythm section in mind-bending, intricate ways. Meanwhile, Garcia’s vocals are delivered with an insistent quaver that has him sounding like some nutter on the street corner you can’t take your eyes off of. The results are humid and heady for sure, but this cut also has a jittery, kinetic quality sure to set your feet on fire!
