Seattle punks, put the band Deer Venom on your radar for 2017 as this band is killin’ it live and starting to turn out some infectious recorded material like this track, “Not Today“. The group is led by guitarist/vocalist Mario Barbetta and he is joined by bassist/vocalist Brian Salvage and drummer Radford Mason. The trio turned in a raucous set last week at The Funhouse, and “Not Today” was one of those tracks still rattling around in the ol’ ear holes long after they were done. Bolstered by driving bass and crisp rhythms, Barbetta’s guitar work does doughnuts around the pair as he spins out in icy abandon before grabbing hold of the wheel for another thrilling turn around the parking lot. Meanwhile, dude sounds like he might blow a gasket with vocals rubbed raw, and when the band jumps in on the cut’s giddy chorus, you’ll find yourself singin’ along too! Word has it that Deer Venom will be recording more material later this winter, so keep your ears peeled for an EP or 7″ from the trio sometime soon.
