Savage Cult‘s track “Face Orion” is a fierce cut of alien techno that premiered this week via The Brvtalist. The track will appear on SC’s Blood Artefacts due out Thursday, February 23rd via the French-based label Tripalium Corp. The release is part of the label’s Digital Mutant Series which they say is dedicated to: “the exploration of the alternative French techno scene and its different subgenres (noise, experimental, acid, industrial, braindance, EBM…) : a mutant vision headed towards the future of electronic music”–which sounds more than groovy to us!
“Face Orion” is steeped in astral resonances and the track’s massive reverb gives it the sonic feel of an open-aired cathedral. Slathered in bit-crushed gauze, “Face Orion”‘s driving rhythm gains force as the cut progresses. Buried beneath the track’s industrial drone one can barely make out human voices and an eerie siren call or whistle trying to climb its’ way out of the foggy racket. One can only imagine the sort of strange ritual Savage Cult is presiding over here and somehow it sounds both ancient and futuristic all at the same time.
