Animal Collective has a new lyric video for their track “Kinda Bonkers“. You can find the song on the band’s upcoming EP, The Painters, due out February 17th via Domino. A companion piece to Animal Collectives’ 2016 LP Painting With, the new 12″ features three original tracks that were recorded during those sessions. In addition, the EP contains a cover of Martha & The Vandellas classic, “Jimmy Mack“, which the band has been covering during their recent tour. Look for The Painters EP to also feature artwork from Brian DeGraw (Gang Gang Dance), who also did the original portraits and artwork for Painting With.
“Kinda Bonkers” is suffused with that sort of ‘shroomy weirdness that Animal Collective does so well. A bubbling soup of strange loops, strummed guitar, and technicolor vocals, the track shines with a surreal gleam. The lyric video for the song was animated by Jack Kubizne and it features an amazingly arty, hand-drawn font from Brian DeGraw. You can watch the video below, and you will also find a list of Animal Collective’s upcoming tour dates after the embed.
