Watch Bing & Ruth’s Video For “The How of it Sped”.

Let’s watch Bing & Ruth‘s stunning new video for “The How of it Sped“. The song is off David Moore‘s upcoming LP No Home of the Mind, due out February 17th via 4AD. Moore started Bing & Ruth in 2006, and while it’s always been an ensemble project, progressive recordings have found the minimalist composer/pianist paring the group down from eleven to five for the new album. A graduate of New York’s Jazz and Contemporary Music at the New School, Moore follows in the minimalist vein of illustrious fellow alums John Cage and Steve Reich. While those composers might be known for the rigors of their experimentalism, Moore’s meditative compositions shine with warmth and emotion.

The visuals for “The How of it Sped” were directed, filmed, and edited by Sebastien Cros. Often capturing wide open vistas that recall Bing & Ruth’s music in visual form, Cros subtly subverts these striking panoramas by sometimes presenting them slightly out of focus, or by introducing surreal elements like gathering smoke or fog. The overall effect, much like Bing & Ruth’s music, is spellbinding. While the images unfold slowly, you’ll find yourself on the edge of your seat with each subtly changing nuance.
