Fans of misanthropic synth-pop will definitely want to put R. Missing on their radar! Featuring The Ropes’ Sharon Shy and musical partner Toppy, the duo continues their descent into bleak futures under this mysterious new moniker. Today we watch R. Missing’s “Kelly Was a Philistine” video, off the pair’s 2017 EP Unsummering (Terminal Echo).
The video features Sharon Shy’s enigmatic presence–in this new project known as She Missing. Often pictured on an old stage in an empty auditorium, the vocalist’s diminutive figure is in contrast to the large room’s size, and it only seems to heighten the strangeness of this peculiar imagery. Meanwhile, the video signal is subject to all kinds of interference, as though the ghosts which haunt the old theater–or maybe She Missing herself–are also disrupting the shadowy picture of “Kelly Was a Philistine.”
