Watch Xiu Xiu’s Video “Wondering”

Xiu Xiu released a new video for “Wondering” this week, off the band’s 2017 LP Forget out now on Polyvinyl. Directed by the band’s Angela Seo, the visuals feature three muses dressed in pastel colored gowns, as well as Jamie Stewart himself in white sweatpants and sweatshirt.

Shot in a stately looking hotel room where the group can be seen lounging together on beds reading and smoking candy cigarettes, they also engage in strange activities that seem to have some sort of obscure “ritualistic” purpose. Meanwhile, Stewart entertains himself emptying containers of talcum powder and applying hot dripping wax to his wincing, outstretched hand.

However, the most memorable and striking image is watching him pop balloons with a switchblade. This is the perfect metaphor for “Wondering”, a track with a shiny pop exterior, but one that bears dangerous intentions.
