Drummer/vocalist Andrya Ambro‘s project Gold Dime is readying their Nerves LP for release on June 2nd via Fire Talk Records. She is joined in the band by Ian Douglas-Moore on bass, as well as Jessica Ackerley on guitar, and the group’s upcoming record was recorded by Justin Frye (PC Worship) and mixed by Ambro’s former Talk Normal bandmate, Sarah Register. Gold Dime’s “All We Have to be Thankful For” is our next listen in on the group’s upcoming record, and it is a cover of a track by the English spoken word artist Anne Clark–first appearing on her 1982 debut LP, The Sitting Room (Red Flame).

While Clark’s version bridged the gap between artier, more avant-garde impulses and the emerging European New Wave, Ambro leads her cover into the noisier territories of experimental rock. Droning low-end is punctuated by piercing shards of guitar and difficult to identify peels of industrial clangor, while Ambro’s recitation of Clark’s text animates its’ icy emotional expanse with puckish glee.

Look for the band to play their Nerves Album Release Show on June 3rd at Alphaville in Brooklyn, NY. Doors are at 8 pm, and the bill will include Hubble, Ritual Humor, and Junkyard.
