Retrospecter is a Seattle/Tacoma-based indie rock trio, and they will release their Crooked Moon LP on May 29th via Den Tapes. The band features Jordan Hudak on guitar/vocals, Arthur Perkins-Cline on bass/vocals, Riley Britt on drums, and their forthcoming effort is a follow-up to last years release Creeper–also out on Den Tapes.
Today we listen to “Camp 6“, the first single off Crooked Moon. All kinds of new growth are evident on this initial listen in on what the band has cooking for later this month. Displaying the kind of sonic confidence that comes from having a few releases now under their belt–in addition to 2016’s Creeper, the band also released a 2015 four-track effort called EP–Retrospecter’s “Camp 6” displays newfound rhythmic intricacies, a lush arrangement, and Hudak’s rich and engaging vocal delivery. Chiming arabesques of guitar climb and circle in pools of warm low-end while the group guides this arrangement thru introspective as well as more hard driving passages. Combined with Hudak’s deep, riveting voice, “Camp 6” opens a promising new chapter in the band’s development, and it suggests the sky’s the limit for this up-and-coming trio.
You can catch Retrospecter at their Crooked Moon release show on June 3rd at The Rendezvous in Seattle, WA. Ten bucks will get you in, and doors are at 9pm.
