Mark Williams‘ electronic project Bary Center returns with a brand new EP called SYMMETRY due out August 1st via the Appalachian-based artist’s Bandcamp page. Williams has released music on a variety of labels like Tram Planet Records, New Body Tapes, and Always Human, to name a few, and the musician reports that this self-released effort is a “throwback to the 90’s techno I grew up with.” If “OK2BMT” is any indication SYMMETRY is a pressure cooked affair filled with sweaty builds and the kind of trance inducing intensity that encourages you to loose both body and mind on the dance floor.

OK2BMT” is built around a warm, steady bass pulse to which Williams adds skittering rim shot and cymbal to create simmering atmosphere. With the throb of low-end constant, it’s about a progressive build up in the temperature of this cut as a variety of industrial details are added as well as what sounds like a backward vocal sample with its’ indecipherable interjection. Williams also handles the visuals for this track, and by reducing the biomorphic imagery to black and white channel mapping, he attains eerily familiar forms that pulse and undulate to the beat.
