METZ is readying the release of their third LP Strange Peace on September 22nd via Sub Pop. The upcoming effort was recorded live to tape in Chicago with Steve Albini before the band returned to Toronto where they continued constructing the album with longtime collaborator Graham Walsh. “Mess of Wires” is our newest listen in on the upcoming record, and you can really hear how a live recording broadens the band’s sound even while loosening it a bit.
No less urgent than previous efforts, the trio builds intensity here with pummeling repetition, alternating their razor sharp precision with explosions of controlled sonic violence. With the live recording adding some roominess to “Mess of Wires”, METZ sound big as ever on this harrowing track.
METZ launch a massive US, European, and UK tour this coming September. You can find all the upcoming dates here.
