Fake Palms will release their sophomore LP Pure Mind on September 15th (Buzz Records/Pleasence Records). The Toronto-based quartet dropped their self-titled debut back in 2015, and it was a gritty platter of jangle-pop full of punk anxiety. On “I’m Not There,” they continue to chart that course even as they brush off some of that first effort’s dirt and dust. There’s still a lo-fi quality here that suits the music just fine, but the band brings their song writing into clearer focus revealing what was there all along–catchy tunes that brim with restless insistence. The video for “I’m Not There” borrows Eric Hill‘s iconic Spot the Dog animations warping them into kaleidoscopic visuals that send Spot and all his friends on a little psychedelic trip.
