The multi-instrumentalist Ka Baird is a longtime member of the experimental music ensemble Spires That In The Sunset Rise. On September 22nd she will release her solo LP Sapropelic Pycnic via Drag City. While the musician has two LP releases under that name, 2015’s See Sun Think Shadow (Perfect Wave) and 2016’s A Love Supreme (No Index), that moniker is now an album title under the artist’s shortened name, Ka Baird. Confused? Let it go friend…

Oneiric,” which means “related to dreams,” drifts thru phasing noise fields while navigating oscillating undertones and electronic bubbling. At times, a whisper of Baird’s vocals seem almost to be heard in the mix. Barely distinguishable in the sonic soup, but magnetizing none the less, they seem to lead us Siren-like deeper into the sonic dream before leaving us far from the shore. The video for the track, directed by Brenna Murphy, features NNA Tapes Max Eilbacher, and it converts the audio from “Oneiric” into reverberating fields of liquid form and warping color.
