Watch: The Soft Moon “It Kills”

Last month The Soft Moon‘s Luis Vasquez announced that he’d signed with Sacred Bones and that he was preparing his fourth LP Criminal for release on February 2nd. With the announcement came the album’s searing first single and video, “Burn,” a brutal and confessional reminder just what dark water Vasquez treads. Claiming “guilt is my biggest demon,” Criminal is a “desperate attempt to find relief” for the pain that has haunted him since childhood.

It Kills” is the second single from the upcoming record and it picks up where “Burn” left off with another deep dive into the well-springs of pain which animate this work. Confessing, “I yearn for everything that burns me down,” on this newest offering Vasquez follows a more synth-wave tact into the existential darkness that consumes this track. Director Kelsey Henderson follows up his visual efforts for “Burn” with another video of haunting imagery. Using a split screen approach, Henderson presents a barrage of disaster footage and other morbid ephemera, while Vasquez stars as the video’s tortured anti-hero.

The Soft Moon has extensive tour dates planned for 2018. Things kick off this February with a string of European dates before the artist returns to tour the US with Boy Harsher. Check out the dates after the video embed…
