Let us introduce you to the mysterious new Italian duo R A D K O. The pair, comprised of members Angelo Mauro and Riccardo Cammalleri, is getting set to release their Cherno PPP / Brutalista 7″ via Enfant Terrible this coming February. Today we watch the video for “Cherno PPP,” directed by fellow musician Lissa Benno of Age Eternal.
The duo blends a variety of genres and influences on the track making for a woozy dream-like ambiance combined with hypnotic vocals that often return to the repeated refrain, “The ground is now sacred.” There’s a really psychedelic meets shoegaze vibe here, but the cut’s mechanistic pulse and minimally styled rhythm gives it an electronic underpinning that might remind listeners of early Warp Records.
Brenno follows suit visually with archival footage of ocean waves and a variety of images that look like they could be taken from various psychedelic sessions or filmed biofeedback experiments. Whatever the source, they definitely add to the feeling that R A D K O is prime listening for your next journey into the noosphere.
