Watch: Iceage “Catch It”

The Danish band Iceage returns today with a brand new single and video for “Catch It,” out now on Matador Records. We last heard from the group back in 2014 with the release of their Plowing Into The Field Of Love LP and a single called “The Lord’s Favorite“–both out via Matador. The label reports that “Catch It” was self-produced and recorded by Mattias Glavå at his Kungsten Studios in Gothenborg, Sweden. The track finds frontman and lyricist Elias Bender Rønnenfelt (Marching Church) at his wordy best, issuing forth urgent poetic lines against the band’s smoldering backdrop.

The video for the track was directed by Adam Hashemi and shot mostly on 8mm. This gives the visuals an intimate hue as they follow Rønnenfelt and company thru moodily lit interiors and onto the rugged terrain of a canyon somewhere outside Los Angeles. Possibly at the center of these proceedings are several large paintings, gesturally rendered and sigil-like, on clear plastic. Eventually, these paintings are carried up a rocky hilltop where their giant size becomes even more evident against the landscape’s wide expanse.

It seems quite appropriate that Iceage will kick off their upcoming North American tour this coming May 10th at Seattle’s Nordic Museum in Ballard. You can find a list of tour dates for the band after the video embed below…
