John Dwyer‘s Oh Sees are readying their Smote Reverser LP for release via Castle Face Records, and in anticipation of the upcoming album the band has made a first single called “Overthrown” available for streaming. Prog meets Metal on this resin-stained bong ripper of a track as the band continues to stretch their legs into new and heavier territory. Buttressed by the drummers Dan Rincon and Paul Quattrone, with Tim Hellman on bass, the upcoming record finds Tomas Dolas contributing organ and synthesizer to the head swirling sound. And, of course, it wouldn’t be (Thee) Oh Sees (OCS) without Dwyer’s wild guitar stylings and some vocal harmonizing from the man and longtime Sees contributer Brigid Dawson. With heads on fire and limbs akimbo, “Overthrown” ushers in a hefty new era in Oh Sees continuing psychedelic development.
This week also brings news from Dwyer’s Castle Face Records that the label has joined the Bandcamp community. Stop by their page to check out releases from Oh Sees, as well as other label stalwarts like Ty Segall, POW!, White Fences, and more!
