Queens-based artist Alexandra Drewchin‘s Eartheater project is readying her IRISIRI LP for release on June 8th via PAN, and today she has a new video for the track “Inclined.” Built around a swirling loop of strings and understated percussion, Drewchin’s sing-song delivery seems to echo the slurred rap style of an artist like Young Thug, and when she delivers a line such as “Fuckin’ water is my life” or “Go to bed for dinner,” she’s equally cryptic. Trap’s hyper-masculinity, though, is here filtered through Eartheater’s feminine perspective, and it yields intriguing results like “Piercing without penetration” or “Body non-profit/Really take my time.”
The video for the track was directed by Eartheater herself and shot by Kofi Carson. Featuring the leather-clad artist astride a horse, we watch as she rides along stretches of beach with open sky and a distant city in the background. Meanwhile, her mysterious lyrics are captioned in Cyrillic script to produce equally enigmatic results.
