Watch: Escape-ism “Nothing Personal”

This year Ian Svenonius will return with another dose of Escape-ism. The legendary frontman’s solo project released its debut long-player Introduction to Escape-ism last year on Merge Records, and on September 7th the garage rock provocateur and author brings us a next chapter, The Lost Record LP–also due out via the label. Merge reports that the album was recorded in four different studios: Gaucho in Los Angeles, Flat Black in Iowa, Tonal Park in Takoma Park, MD, and at Club Blasé in DC.

Nothing Personal” is our first listen in on the upcoming effort, and the stripped down and catatonic track features Ian’s droll delivery with backing vocals from Laena Geronimo. The video for the cut was filmed and directed by Alexandra Cabral–who also directed the video for the Introduction to Escape-ism song, “Walking in the Dark.” Svenonius stars here, and his inimitable charisma is supported by the pair of ultra-cool dancers Zumi and Arianna.
