The Kraut leaning Swiss duo Klaus Johann Grobe is readying their third LP for the Chicago-based label Trouble In Mind. Du Bist So Symmetrisch is due out October 26th and it follows up on their 2016, Basel Prize-winning effort, Spagat der Liebe. Klaus Johann Grobe has been active since 2012 when they released a self-titled EP, and the project features Sevi Landolt and Daniel Bachmann. Both musicians contribute vocals with Landolt handling bass and keyboards and Bachmann on drums and percussion.
“Discogedanken” is our first listen in on the pair’s upcoming LP. Somehow cool and hot all at once, the track features an infectiously funky bassline, dance floor inspired rhythms and Klaus Johann Grobe’s penchant for German lyrics. The Swiss-based artist Jonas Baumann created the intriguing animated video for the cut and his visual aesthetic is the perfect pairing. Straddling the divide between the “imperfection…of hand crafted paintings and objects, as well as the clear, velvety coolness of digital re/productions,” Baumann’s surreal imagery follows billowing silken shapes as they travel thru a variety of abstracted settings making for an experience that is both reservedly cerebral and sensuously tactile.
