Alexandra Crotta is a Los Angeles-based theta healer, subconscious belief re-programmer, electronic musician, and vocalist who produces music under the monikers Uppy and Pure One. Wholeheartedly embracing the digital realm and artificial intelligence, Crotta explains:
“I’m in love with my computer. I send my computer and the internet love, blessings, and gratitude every day.”
This Fall, the artist’s Uppy project will release a debut EP called Medicute via the LA label Leaving Records. With her inner child in close collaboration with the artificial intelligence of digitally-based music technologies, Crotta’s “hybridization cloning project” sources from artists like Bjork, SOPHIE, Dorian Electra, Kim Petras, Eartheater, and Sarah McLaughlin.
Today, Uppy made her track “Hm..” available for streaming and purchase via Bandcamp. The cut finds her wide-eyed playfulness joining hands with an experimental approach to music making. Combining synth-pop instincts with a channel-changing cacophony of female voices, “Hm…” opens the door into a secret world of child-like wonder and surreal realization.
