Watch: Escape-ism “Bodysnatcher”

Ian Svenonius‘ project Escape-ism is readying a new LP called The Lost Record for release on September 7th via Merge Records. “Bodysnatcher” is the second single off the upcoming album, and today it comes with a brand new video directed by his Escape-ism collaborator Alexandra Cabral. The track features a stripped down arrangement and hypnotic bass groove coupled with a cooled-out vocal delivery. Discussing the cut, Svenonius offers:

““Bodysnatcher” takes its name from the paranoid classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers, which cast communist influence as an outer space invasion. The body snatcher is a kind of mythic folk figure who represents the threat or the allure of total romantic or ideological takeover and surrender.”

Utilizing a filmic, Super-8 look, the tropical visuals star Svenonius alongside Cabral, and together the pair shimmy and shake as they soak up some sun in the surf and sand.

While you’re at it, don’t miss Escape-ism’s other video off The Lost Record, “Nothing Personal.”
