Just in time for your next suicide, UK punks Suicide Generation have cooked up a new long-playing platter of scuz and pestilence. Having signed a two record deal with Dirty Water Records earlier this year, the band will follow-up their 2018 debut 1st Suicide with their ominously titled sophomore effort, Last Suicide. With several line-up changes now behind them, the band’s core duo of singer Sebastian Melmoth and guitarist Vince Sooicide was recently joined this year by bassist Gema Germen and drummer May Mansur. Proving themselves more than a “fill-in for cancelled support slots across the Tuesday night London gigging circuit,” what might have started out as a drunken sonic prank has fully blossomed into a garbage-filled promise of noise and chaos.
“Rotten Mind” is our newest listen in on the band’s upcoming LP and it follows-up on the album’s blood splattered and sweaty first single/video “Hypnotise Me.” Last Suicide was recorded over a three day period on vintage analog gear by Patrice Picard (The Cannibals), and it found Suicide Generation joined by The Cavemen’s drummer Jake Caveman. On “Rotten Mind,” the group’s mangled and mutated blues pulsate with a raucous punk energy. Clocking in at just over a minute and a half, the band wastes little time here with frills or foreplay. Featuring sawed-off guitar lines, Neanderthal drum pounding, and Sebastian Melmoth’s car crash howls, this cut is a rowdy maelstrom of gritty noise and leather-clad attitude.
