Antonioni will return next year with a brand new EP entitled “The Odds Were All Beating Me” due out January 10th via Den Tapes. The Seattle-based four-piece is led by guitarist/vocalist Sarah Pasillas and the band includes Kyle Todaro on drums, Ben Dorcy on bass, and Austin Dean on guitar/vocals. The upcoming 5-track effort follows up on the project’s 2017 EP release “Lullablaze,” also out on Den Tapes. Inspired by sci-fi literature and surrealist films, “The Odds Were All Beating Me” was recorded by Rick Hoag at MRX Studios and was mastered by Levi Seitz (Jenn Champion, Pearl Jam, Sloucher) at Black Belt Mastering.
The band’s upcoming release features the track “Easy Listener,” and today we watch their brand new video for the standout cut. Northwest infused 90’s-era alt-rock meets lush dream-pop on the single, while Pasillas’ lilting vocal delivery soars to ecstatic heights on the track’s rousing chorus. The visuals were directed by the band’s drummer Kyle Todaro, who also handled animation and editing–as well as shooting all the non-performance footage. The live material was recorded on VHS by Trevor Crump and was filmed during a performance at The Moon in Seattle. Combining this live band footage with radiant close-ups of singer/guitarist Sarah Pasillas, the video’s often composited imagery is the perfect psychedelic accompaniment to this song’s ear swirling sonics.
