It’s gotta be a good year if Oozing Wound‘s back! The Chicago thrash metal trio’s 2016 LP Whatever Forever was one of our favorites of 2016, so we’re betting their upcoming long-player High Anxiety out on March 15th via Thrill Jockey will to be another face melter!
“Tween Shitbag” is our first listen in on the record and it finds guitarist/vocalist Zack Weil, bassist Kevin Cribbin, and drummer Kyle Reynolds stalking their prey with a malicious and lockstep intent. Moving with the precision of a high performance machine, the track finds them frighteningly tight and savagely loose all at once. Meanwhile, Weil levels a scathing disdain for the music industry types that might haunt the Empty Bottle in Chicago, a club where he works, combing his venomously spat derision with the band’s pummeling sonic attack.
While your at it head on over to Oozing Wound’s Instagram page to check out Kevin Cribbin’s weekly video series ‘It’s Wednesday. It’s Kevin.’ where the bassist doles out timeless insights like: “I used to think the hardest part of being in a band was the monotonous grind of touring, but the really hard bit is trying to explain why you like Frank Zappa to your girlfriend.”
