Watch: Steve Gunn “Vagabond”

Steve Gunn is readying his fourth album, The Unseen In Between, due out January 18th via Matador Records. The guitarist/songwriter is known for his collaborations with artists like Kurt Vile, Black Twig Pickers, Mike Cooper, and Sun City Girls, as well as his own solo work. Gunn’s newest LP was produced by James Elkington and engineered by Daniel Schlett, and it features appearances from Bob Dylan’s musical director Tony Garnier on bass as well as Meg Baird on vocals.

Baird’s backing harmonies can be heard on this lovely track “Vagabond.” A quiet paean for a ragged cast of broken souls, Gunn advises: “Keep a hold of your strangeness,” while his characters quietly struggle on the fragile margins. The video for the track was directed by Jason Evans, and it features Gunn and fellow musicians on a stripped back sound stage performing the track. Exuding an urbane demeanor, the singer/guitarist leads his band with laid back style.
