C Powers returns to Alliance Upholstery on the label’s new “Skymiles Volume 1” EP compilation. Providing the title cut, the Georgia-based producer appears alongside Sweden’s Bobby Bricks, Brazil’s Séculos Apaixonados, and Japan’s Roy Comanchero. Billed as a “round trip ticket from Stockholm to Osaka, making stops in Savannah and Rio,” Skymiles Volume 1″ is a jet-setting collection that moves between Balearic, electro, and house with stylish aplomb.
“Sky Miles” joins Roy Comanchero’s “Moon Hike” on the B-side. While the A-side offers sunnier, smile-inducing Balearic beat, the backside takes a more electro approach. With “Moon Hike” introspectively attuned, C Powers styles syncopated beats into an entirely kinetic affair aimed straight for the dance floor. Using layers of funk-fried bass, and what even sounds like an acoustic stand-up, the producer combines hard-driving low-end and dizzying rhythmic elements into this high flying workout.
