The Seattle four-piece Tourist Activities is readying their EP “Off My Mind” for release on March 15th via Den Tapes. The project began with songwriter Bailey Melton and guitarist Kell Jacobson writing a demo in their apartment. Accompanied at the time by only a drum machine, the pair soon added bassist Chris Hansche and drummer Chris Glaser to the fold.
“Swim” is our first listen in on the group’s upcoming EP release, and it’s an ethereal swirl of dreamy pop. Kell Jacobson’s guitar chimes neon colored notes into the shimmering fog, while Bailey Melton’s diaphanous vocals echo in tone. Together, their melodic interplay forms a sparkling conversation with Melton’s voice and Jacobson’s guitar alternately sending glinting sparks into the night air.
Don’t miss the bands’ upcoming EP release show at the Lo-Fi on March 22nd. Doors are at 8pm and the bill includes local acts Power Strip, Retrospecter, and Appalachian Yard Art.
