From the excellent 2018 Yves Tumor album Safe In The Hands Of Love (Warp Records) comes this new video for the standout track “Lifetime.” Headlong percussion and simmering atmosphere set the stage for this powerful meditation about longing, nostalgia, and the desperate search for self-actualization.
The video for the track is directed by Floria Sigismondi and it stars the enigmatic musician in various striking guises. Initially bejeweled in a fiery red wig, as the song heats up Sean Bowie takes on the appearance of a horned devil. With several shadowy figures attempting to leash and restrain the creature, “Lifetime”‘s lyrics “Hold me back/I can not breath/I swear it’s torture” take on new levels of cultural meaning when coupled with this powerful imagery.
