Flying Lotus is getting set to release his Flamagra LP via Warp Records on May 24th. In anticipation of the upcoming record, Steven Ellison has shared the two-track suite “Spontaneous/Takashi.” “Spontaneous” features vocals from Yukimi Nagano of Little Dragon, while “Takashi” is named after Takashi Kudo of the Japanese art/technology/design collective teamLab.
Both tracks follow a sultry, funk-driven tack as bass and organ come together to deliver a vintage mood. On “Spontaneous,” Yukimi Nagano’s effervescent vocals sparkle with her breezy delivery as she exhorts us to let go and get a little crazy. Following up on this flirty, summer vibe, the late night organ-driven instrumental “Takashi” offers the perfect soundtrack for an evening’s romantic escapades.
This month, Flying Lotus announced the release of Flamagra with this mega-creepy video for “Fire Is Coming,” featuring David Lynch.
