Orson Hentschel is readying his Antigravity LP for release on April 26th via Denovali Records. This will be his third effort for the label and it follows up on his 2017 release Electric Stutter. Nearly two years in the making, Antigravity reflects the producer’s move from Düsseldorf to Berlin where he set up a new work space and absorbed the cities creative influences. Seeking a “futuristic vintage sound,” Hentschel’s upcoming record finds him working with analog drum machines from the 60s, an old tape echo machine from the 70s called the Watkins Copicat, as well as more modern synthesizer environments.
On “Ghost Echos,” swirling tones of drone give way to pulsing bass frequencies while a faint heartbeat of rhythm softly thuds and stutters. Eventually, almost out of nowhere, the drum machine jumps to action, as though animated by some entity from another dimension. Before long, “Ghost Echos” droning atmosphere gives way to a rhythmic space animated by firing snares and ticking hi-hats as sonic quasars ripple through this cosmic track.
