The Florists self-released their Prayer Starter LP this March and today we catch up with the track “Bury Your Heart.” The Minneapolis-based trio plays a noisy brand of pop with plenty of post-punk and 90’s style indie thrown in for good measure. The group’s 2019 LP follows up on their 2016 EP debut Can You Feel the Stasis?, as well as their 2017 effort, No Costume.
“Bury Your Heart” combines a whimsical arrangement with self-effacing wit. The track’s syncopated rhythms and off-kilter melody bring to mind a band like Deerhoof, while Jo Kellen‘s wise-cracking quips and vocal delivery are reminiscent of Slanted & Enchanted-era Pavement.
