(Chk Chk Chk) is back on the grid with a new double A-side single entitled “UR Paranoid/Off The Grid.” This has always been the band you’d want to party with if the apocalypse was going down, and these two fresh “peak timers” are further evidence these boys will still be dancing when Rome burns. “Who isn’t paranoid these days,” the group asks, before going on to promise, “There’s more good times and heartbreak to come…”
!!! (Chk Chk Chk) explains that the tracks “UR Paranoid” and “Off The Grid” were written on dark and stormy nights. Listening to the cuts, you can be sure the power hadn’t gone out during those sessions. Aimed straight for the dance floor, a dark House groove and sleazy bass throb animates both of these bangers. While the group’s earliest work might be seen as a funk-infused love letter to the Kraut rockin’ gods Can, in more recent years the band’s dance groove has come totally club ready.
