Objekt has a new video for the track “Dazzle Anew” off his Cocoon Crush LP out now on PAN. The visuals are directed by Joji Koyama and choreographed and performed by Kianí Del Valle. Discussing the track and video with Objekt’s TJ Hertz, Koyama explains that the goal was to create a mood of “elated discovery or rebirth.” The director goes on to say:
“I tried to think of how this could be performed by a face. When I met Kianí Del Valle, who agreed to perform it and choreograph it, we imagined the torso of a figure continually shifting and moving a bit like it’s some kind of growing organ–we quickly developed it so that the figure would also move through a succession of frantic and slightly elusive emotional states.”
Mission accomplished! Sonically, Objekt’s “Dazzle Anew” presents a sort of broken beat barrage of sonic elements where every new discovery comes rushing by in rich electroacoustic detail and gleaming texture. Likewise, each triggered sample seems like it is mapped to some obscure emotional region in Kianí Del Valle’s brain causing her to contort and twitch through various postures and expressions as the full spectrum of human emotions wash across her body and face.
